Try going into your ea games folder/mainta/configs.Right click on your unnamedsoldier.cfg file and make sure it is not set to read only.If it is remove the tick for read only.

Viper i posted a thread here ages ago about repairing video cards.I had the same problem with a old 8800gt and a 9800gt.Pull it apart and bake it,you have nothing to use. As for unplugging and plugging in a harddrive while running i would say no dont do it.I only unplug and plug them in while the computer is turned off. I play sniper elite nazi zombie army 2.A group of us play this game.Unfortunatly only four players can play at a time but it is fun.Last night we played for 3 hours and killed thousands of zombies with snipers,rifles,mines,tripwires and granades.
