This week in 1940

The Brits sent a fleet to Algiers in the Mediterranean to neutralize French Vessals that they fear may fall into the hands of the Germans, sinking 1 battleship and damageing two. French naval forces in Alexandria are disarmed.


This week in 1941

The German advance continues in the Eastern Front. Panzer divisions just 10 miles outside of Kiev.


This week in 1942

Eastern front - Siege at Sebastopol ends with the Germans capturing 90,000 troops.

War in the Atlantic - PQ-17 convoy looses 23 vessels (and an enormous amount of supplies) out of 33 in air and U-boat attack.

This week in 1943

Pacific - the US 43rd Div leads the main landing on New Georgia on the 4th.


This week in 1944

To date 2,000 German V1 flying bombs have been launched against England.

The British take Foiano in Italy completing the breakthrough of the Albert Line.


This week in 1945

Burma - Jap third Army (6,000) attempts to take Waw to cut off road and rail supply lines to Rangoon.
