Pacific - US Task Force 58 begins heavy bombardment of Saipan, Tinian, Guam, Rota, and Pagan.

Wow, I remember reading about the Pacific campaign in 1944, although it wasn't the decisive blow we really wanted but it did definitely shook their world.
