ok, now I know that an 8800 card is top of the line "for now", but my question is what is the ATI equivalent?
and what do you people that use one think of it.? I am and have been a NVIDIA USER, loved it quite much, now though I have been contemplating tryin a ATI card, and I want to know what thier top of the line card is, seeing that I never used one, I have no clue. so any info would be appreciated.
thnx.

card speeds
I still have a dinosaur for my graphics card.Anythingabout 800*600 my pc just laughs at me.Toms hardware is a good site for seeing what parts are like because they do lots of tests with all cards, cpus etc.And you can choose which ones to look at...eg games or applications depending on what you will be doing with that pc.

Looks like ati HD3870 is the fastest current one.Well it was in 2007.

NVIDIA
You want stats or facts seriously ill give em. 3 years and running. Also on a side note Im a huge AMD fan and hate Pentium...This year when i purchased my pc...I bought a dual core pentium lol. Fact is AMD been falling behind on bench marks vs price for 2 years now. For price and performance go Pent/Nvidia. why not pentium does own nvidia and amd does own ati lol, go figure. If any of this late night rambling helps then good lol.

yeah I had been running a amd xp 3000 with 2 gig ram "not duel channel" with a NVIDIA 7600AGP card,
it was a good card and all but the whole machine was starting to show its age, being that its roughly 4 years old alienware machine it has performed awesome, but I recently upgraded to a quad core proc, a q6600 with 3gigs ram, the only downside is that it has a PCI expressx16ati hd2400 card, "kind of a starter card" not top of the line by any means but I think once I get a good card in it, it should help.
though I am not liking Vista, course that goes without saying.

New intel cpus
Intel has released new cpus also which are faster than their old models in every way. They are faster, cooler and use less power and to top it off they will be the same price as the ones they are replacing.Expect to see amd drop their prices more because their top cpu cant keep up with the bottom intel now..

I have always been a NVIDIA user till I bought my last one, I found that it would not run Spearhead so I went to ATI, no issues since...
Now a guy I know at a computer store has told me about a program called "NHANCER", says it solved that issue for the NVIDIA Video Card..
So here is the link all about it..... http://www.nhancer.com
When I get my next card I will go back to NVIDIA if this works...

This is kinda like Ford vs Chevy, they are both good cards, of course this is the based upon how much you want to spend.
The top of the line in each will run extremely well in any game, BTW the current top of the line NVidia is 9800 X2 ultimate. This is way more card then you need other than you won't need to upgrade for a long time. I am not sure what is the top ATI card but.............................
MOH runs in OpenGL and NVidia uses an OpenGL, know that is not to say ATI will not work for MOH but it is just another bla bla bla
The key thing here is to remember what MOBO you have, is it a NVidia based MOBO or a crossfire? You need to be sure prior to purchasing a Video card, they (the MOBO) are not compatible.
I can only speak for NVidia as this is what I have and have been following, this is not to say it is the best but................. then we back to Ford and Chevy, so as far as Nvidia goes an 8800GT GT overclocked or better yet, the GTX w/ as much on board ram you can afford for now is the best bang for the buck for NVidia. The GTX is a far superior card for any of the Nvidia cards but then again it is about the money. you pay for what you get.
My Philosophy is don't spend the money on the latest and greatest as this will be trumped in about a month w/ something new coming out.
COD 4 needs only an Nvidia 6600 series card to run so as you can see an 8800 series card will last for some time.
