My little project

Post by Knuckledragger »

At long last, I finished my son's fire truck bed. I had abandoned it for several months after I lost my spark of inspiration and ho-hummed about the details so much that I gave up out of frustration.

I picked it back up about a week ago and finished it today. It's seriously overbuilt, with 2x6 and 2x4 construction, plus MDF for the sides and a 1/2" plywood platform helping support the mattress. But hey, he'll be able to jump on it well into his pre-teens if he wants to because I KNOW it will stand up to the abuse! The wheels spin and everything. I only wish I could have found some kind of light bar for the top, but after seeing that I was almost finished Ethan couldn't wait any more.

Great job knuckles. That is a awsome bed for a young lad.I made a car bed many years ago and it was great. It was built way overkill as well.It was so heavy i had to put wheels on it to move it around.A light bar will look cool on the roof and a very loud siron he can play with at 3 oclock in the morning.
