Map pack update frequency

I'm wondering if there is any set format or time table used to apply map packs. The reason I'm even mentioning it is because as much as I truely appreciate these new maps it seems like every second or third time I want to play on server 1 I eventually end up punted because I dont have some map. Now new maps shouldn't seem like a real problem, and it isnt, but if I get frustrated with constant Dl'ing of map packs I wonder how the casual non member player feels.
I was under the impression that server 2 was the place to play all these new maps and had accepted the fact that I would have to DL b4 going there, but that seems to have migrated its way into server 1, which I always though was the public arena where people could come to be killed by the nice TWL squaddies over and over again :hitman:
Anyway my rant is done, I just thought it might make sense to limit map pack updates to once a month or something for server 1. I off to Dl map pack 6 or 7 or 10 or what ever the fraking flavor of the day is. :bang:

Easy there soldier, take a chill pill. If you were to frequent the forums more often, you would have seen "Map Pack Six" posted, it has been there since August 16th and multiple replies since then. Check the "Top Ten" every time you go to the forums and if you come frequently, you would be up to date. Server 2 is our rifle server and yes somtimes we use it for beta testing.

As far as none <TWL> members, there is always a link popping up in the marque every couple of minutes so they do have a link posted for them if they want to play the custom maps here and where to go to download them.

We welcome all players, new and old here at <TWL>, Viper puts a lot of his time and effort into the new maps for all of us so we all can play something new and different verses the old stock maps. In order to keep this old game fresh and inviting the new maps are the way to do it. MOH is not capable of auto downloads like COD and other new games so this is the only way we (Viper) can make it interesting. Every new map Viper spends a lot of time verifying there are no holes, cheats etc before he will place them into rotation.

I hope this answers your inquiry.

What JJ said, and the new maps are AWESOME............Thanks, Viper

BTW................probably a good idea to check both the forums and the D/L page once a week. When I played virtually everyday, I checked the DL's before opening the game every time.......................Honest.

All TWL servers have always been set up with custom maps - All TWL members are expected to know how to stay informed and up to date. You may be thinking of experimental map paks being exclusive to server two - like betas or test paks. The formula is check the forums or with other players on TS.

There is no excuse for getting kicked because you didn't bother to check. If it takes you 5 minutes to update and install a map pak or 2 minutes a week just checking for an update that I do post every time I make a new pak.

Excellent work Viper.
You do your part and I think the rest of us should be able to handle ours.

I'm proud of you all rushing to Vipers defence, however it wasn't an attack on Viper, this clan or for that matter, anything at all. So you all should please "take a chill pill". I was quite calm and level headed when I posted and the question was simple enough.
Anyway, I too am pleased at the time and effort Viper and others put into makeing and testing new maps-BUT this post wasnt about that. Read it again and if I have to I will reword it.

After I made this thread I revisited the download page to see if there was some pak that I missed. What I found was that Map pack 6 was the latest, which I already had DL'd and installed. In fact everything listed on the page has been. Twice.
This happened with an earlier pack, in fact i think it was 5, where it took a second install to get all the maps to work. Some did, some didnt.

Anyway back to the original question: On second thoughts forget about it, I am not prepared to turn this into a shouting match when there was not a single thing posted here that I don't agree with and emulate.

Viper, I apologize if you felt slighted in anyway. I really do appreciate ALL your efforts for this clan and not just in this regard.

Thank you all for the kind words and the gentle manner with which everyone replied, I really felt like a member of an elite crew when I read them.
Lapdance out. /0

People, I was wondering if anyone besides Lapdance and I are having the same problem. I have d/l'ed all the map packs and I still get booted every once in a while until I go re-install the most current map pack. I do agree with every one about all the hard work Viper puts into these new maps, I appreciate it Viper, and I believe all of TWL does also, so keep up the great work! Any help on getting booted would be appreciated.

It's happened to me on 2 or 3 occasions. Like you I just redownload the necessary map pack, install and I'm good to go. It doesn't happen often.

Keep in mind that twl servers offer more than 100 custom maps at this point - this is bound to present problems for some and also the occurance of faulty file downloads is not rare. It's important that everybody learn some skills using the console for trouble shooting and that's why I posted this trouble shooting guide a while back -

The new map packs are great...........

As far as map loading issues there are so many versions of each map that there are times when they will not go.

Great job Viper  :ditto:

YEAH NEW MAP PACKS!

One of the reasons that SS and I started playing on this server was the custom maps that we didn't see anywhere else. Congrats Viper for the creations and a Big Thanks to Drifter for helping me out with all of the new (and some of the old) downloads a few weeks ago! Once I have loaded them I haven't had any problems yet. I still run WinSys 2000 sp4. Don't know if that helps me, but it looks like I will need to get a new machine and OS to play Airborne. :base:
