If you have to take one of the 2 you have listed it would most definitely be the Sony Vaio, but read below if you want to know my personal suggestions.

Neither of those are great deals. I would suggest you do some searching on ebay/google for price ideas and when purchasing any computer you should take your time. One of the biggest things I look for is battery condition(laptop) and the processor(personally I steer clear of AMD). As for graphics card, unless you're gonna be doing some extreme gaming(does not include MOH) any card that's not integrated will do fine, although I have Intel chipset on one of my laptops that works extremely well with MOH. Whether the graphics is shared or not will not matter one bit simply because no game that will run on any of the lower price systems you're looking for will ever need higher than 256mb, which will not be shared on most newer laptops(2006 and later).

Hard drive size is personal preference as well, but I always go with 7200rpm as it makes gaming faster. But if they are both 5400rpm or something of course go with the higher capacity. You will eventually have to change hard drives on any computer anyway. Memory can be bought cheap these days too, so I wouldn't worry too much about it as 2 gigs of ram is more than enough. Only someone who's gonna be photoshopping, video editing and multitasking like crazy would need more than that as more is not always better.

Unless you're a computer guru, buying secondhand from a person and not a company is a toss in the wind, although it could be great. As I don't know your situation, I would still stick with some fallback option.

Firstly the first link dosn't say its a 2ghz pc.Dvd rw is good and a blue ray reader could be handy for some people.I think it is a 1.83mhz or 2ghz

was a expensive pc

I also like thr 2 harddrives connected in raid

I just looked into the hp dv-6000 and found lots of bad user reviews which i take with a grain of salt but most are serious faults. There has also been recalls on this.Common problems....motherboards,wireless networking, webcams, video cards, batterys and power supply. One of the recalls is to do with the motherboard bios and seams like they overheat which causes failour.

I didn't find many reviews for the sony but if i was to purchase one i would go for the sony.It has a larger screen and the 2 harddrives are setup as raid.
Read the comments on the hp like a grain of salt and i know people stuff software up and blame the pc but most seam to be hardware related and having recalls on bios and motherboards is the heart of the pc and the wireless networking seams to be a big fault which had a recall. If you buy this and any faults appear you will have no recall against hp and will have to pay for repair.
I will try to find user reviews tomorrow.
