Ok as from tomorrow i am biking to work again but the roads i have to bike in is very narrow and extremely dangerous.I am looking for a seriously bright taillight (back light for drifter) for my pushbike and found this.
http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/dinotte.asp
I like the dinotte pro series taillight (must be red)but we dont have it in this part of the world and i would hate to think how much it costs expecially with our very bad dollar at the moment.I ask the bike shops for a price and they laugh at me.
I am looking at making my own out of luxeon stars like
http://www.besthongkong.com/product_inf ... cts_id=785
I know i also need a driver board to limit the current but has anyone ever made anything like this.I have never seen these leds but know they are bright.I am trying to find out more information before i buy the bits because being in new zealand we dont have the range like the rest of the world and i will have to order it from overseas.
I have viewed a lot of threads of people making them but they consentrate on the looks not how to wire them so i dont blow them up as soon as i turn it on.
If anyone has any knowledge they can share with me it will be greatly received..
Ps:i will be using a 2 or 3 cell lipo battery to power it (7.4 or 11.1 volt dc).

I have searched ebay but these lights are specialist and very expensive. They are not the normal lights you see on bikes and i would avoid second hand.I just found a supplier in australia and emailed them for a price list.
This light delivered to me will be about $350 usd so its not a toy and not many people will be silly enough to pay that for a light for a pushbike but when cars are approaching behind you at 45 mph and its a one lane road with parked cars on the sides it is very scarry and i want to take every step possible for cars to see me.
But if anyone owns a bikeshop and can get a good discount feel free to let me know.

Understandable. My Hubby Use to Bike for work everyday. HE was a bike messanger. And trust me he can tell you it hurts like a winch when you get hit. But here found this website for you. Might help with some cost. http://www.modernbike.com/k_Lights/

I looked at that site

As you can see these clearly are not toys and thats why they are hard to get. Most shops have cheap lights which are ok but definatly not great. If a car dosn't see this they must be blind and shoulsn't be on the road.
