<TWL> The War Legends

I have an issue with server 1. The issue is admin abuse, or the abuse of that honor. When I joined this clan we had 3 servers running 24/7 and each had a specific game type or purpose. Well I rarely see servers 2 and 3 any more and thats fine but if our public face is server 1, I think its a little presumptuous for admin to just change from open play to whatever the present admin decides he wants to play. Specifically, as soon as we actually get a few public players in the server, someone always sees fit to swap to rifles only, without warning or a vote. This has been going on for quite a while, and I've kept my tongue and been nice about it, until now.
As an observation, I have noticed that server1 has less traffic, partially due to overall attrition of MOH players to other games and platforms, but I suspect also due to 1. having to download custom maps( fine with me) and 2. (see the above paragraph)

Since recruiting has been opened up to everyone to put for possible members, I can only assume that there is a desire for a large membership. I also assume that a larger membership would result in more funding for servers. I can only speak for myself so here goes: I joined this squad because at the time it was a democratic, fair and honest squad with skilled players who were here for fun.
When the server went to rifles today, I asked who decided that was what we wanted, the answer I got back was "rifles are more fun" and " I didn't do it." Well I was already having fun and I can only assume so were the people who were already present. We went from 4 players to 10 , and all of a sudden I find myself holding a frakin' M1. Someone might say " If you don't like it, leave" Well I do, and that is a problem. One guy decides he wants to play rifles only because he's not having fun being mowed down by superior fire power and now we all have to? NO! and so people leave and go to Perfect General 1,2 or 3 or the FCF server or anywhere else that they can "HAVE FUN" without being told they have to use this gun or that. If I want to go rifles only, I look for a server designated for that, I don't ask admin to change the server and force it on others.
Its rude, inconsiderate and selfish, not something considered as good hosting.
You want to play rifles only, go find a rifles only server.
TWL is the ONLY server I have been on where this kind of unilateral descision making happens and I believe it does nothing for recruiting efforts or our credibility as a squad.
Not everyone has hardware or a connection suitable to rifles only, and so they choose a server that isn't and " look! Over there! its a player with a rifle with the balls to take on machine guns and grenades and rockets" Not " I want rifles only but thats only fun if everyone has a rifle"
I am quite sick of waiting sometimes days to find people playing on TWL1 only to have to leave because some GIT forces the weapon type.
Its insulting and its happened enough times that it's beginning to feel intentional. Its gotten bad enough that I look for other specific servers before TWL because of this. I just don't see this type of admin abuse on other servers ( I do see other types of abuse though).
Perhaps, if other members can't have fun without forcing their will on others, maybe we should just become a "Rifles only" squad and be done with it, then you can have my tags because I want to have fun too.

EDIT: As to the subject of people leaving the server, in the time it took to make this post, the server emptied out, from ten to one, thats great huh?

Sorry to here that your upset about the rifle issue tonight,I for one was on TS you where not... I joined the caln in 2006 I always have kept my mouth shut,having said that ,the changing of the rife was voted with all those that where on TS tonight,and it WAS not one man abusing the system. rippa,Ouch.Crazy and Cow voted by the clan members on TS to change it for the duration of that map,when the map changed again the all wpns mode was put into place as per the server,but you had left the game so you did not have a chance to see.There will be times during that if the members want to change things up I have no problem with it and I myself really suck with the rifle but...I deal with it hoping to get better one day.

Yes - admin decisions have always been confirmed on TS. If you want a say before something is done- use TS or go with the flow. Vote is for convenience in the absence of admins - it has always been done this way.

<center>I'm affraid I have to agree with Lapdance on this one. I have noticed ALOT of rcon misuse by admins on the server. I know that some people have heard the saying, "To many Cheifs and not enought Indians". I have noticed this before and I have noticed this the last couple of days playing again. Being an rcon admin is a privalage NOT to be misused to "Fell the Power" so to speak.

Granted we are a clan and pleasing the clan members when they come on is fine, but when you have a server full of people and an admin on TS says "Lets run customs so we can loose the crowd." bringing the server down to 3 or 4 clan members. Or, when in the case that some public players have the custom maps and have never been on the custom map before and they are lost, instead of helping them get around the map some admins kick them. Admins are suppose to stop the BS on the servers so ALL can have fun, not create it and NOT just for the admins.

And as far as good players are concerned. I am by no means innocent of this, but I grew up. I hate to burst some peoples bubbles but there are other good players out there. Your not the only one who plays good. Just because you are getting owned by a public/clan member player does not constitute them as cheaters. Our server motto is prove the hacker before you say and kick them for being a hacker. Lately, that has not been the case.

What I can't understand is how all of this misuse of rcon with overbearing admins minimizing the server crowd and these same admins and clan members alike, can't unerstand why there is no one on our servers when other servers are full all the time.

I'm on here everyday and don't feel theres an Admin problem. I know the server gets slow at times and won't change the map to customs if only 2 or 3 Twl members are on, the only time i vote for a custom is when Twl is the majority. I do however feel that when on the server the Admin rights should be ran by the person with the higher rank, just to keep out the confusion as to who is gonna push the button, to pick the map or to kick the client.... My 2 cents worth, Cowlitz

I think you missed my point. Its not about how the decision was reached or the fact that its rifles( odd though that its never handguns or blades, which is fun also). Its aboot (sorry couldn't resist) server1 and its role as a recruiting tool. Its about the response I got to why it was changed and its about consistancy. Server 1 running for all weapons, server 2 rifles only, server3 custom maps and testing( does any of this sound familiar?).

So you say it wasn't the abuse of one man but 4 instead, so what? We have a vote mechanism in place for just that purpose and yet instead of using that for the benefit of those not on TS and therefore not privy to the secret world of server1 admin, 5 players decided to do what they wanted and the rest be damned( as in the other 5 players at the time). Perhaps you should have used TS to discuss going to server 2 and using rifles there, you know- on the rifles server. I think public participation on our servers has got to a point where the moment theres more than 1 player in there, we get all excited, jump in and then immediately forget the manners of being good hosts.

I appreciate you responding and explaining the hidden circumstance of last night, however its not just last night, its very often. Too often.

Theres a reason I didn't mention names in my original rant. I was trying to focus on the problem not the people and I specifically did not want to come off as PO'd at any one person as that was not the case.

Now that server 3 has gone and the slots reduced on 1 and 2, I think the writing is on the wall, we need more members. We will not get them by discounting their ability to press F1 or F2 when a vote is called, like it is done on so many other servers, you know- the ones with players in them.
What happened last night may seem minor, and maybe it is, but the devil is in the details and the behaviour was more suited to a private squad server than the public one.

Server one is not strictly all weapons. It is dynamic for all to enjoy something more than just all weapon all the time. One person will not dictate all weapons on a server whos majority of members want rifles.

I would have to agree with Private_Lapdance, Some times I have been on when there is only 3-4 TWL members and 5-7 Public Players and still they decide to change to Rifles, and then there is only 3-4 TWL players in less then 5 minutes after they do it... and everyone is wandering why the server is emtie so often.. one only need to do the math...

Most people like the Idea that you can all chose what ever weapon you want to use at any given time, hence making it "FUN FOR EVERYONE NOT JUST THE FEW"!!

Now when I joing TWL many years ago that was the way I was told the clan was run like. No tell me if I am wrong but is server 2 just rifles??? and server 1 for all weapons ?? At least that was how it all started out as far as I can rember, but I am getting old ya know....lol.....
