This week in 1943 the Americans under British command will be routed out by Rommel at the pass at Kasserine. This battle will largely be confused in history to Pattons great defeat of Rommel's forces at El Qatar in March of 43.

The press was greatly under raps during the North Africa campaign, due to the uncertainty of allied efforts against Rommel as much as possible was kept secret. That's the source for much confusion about the exact details of Patton's efforts there.
